Illegal and we're paying her way

Went to Aldi's this afternoon. I'm waiting in line behind a Mexican woman and her son (only speaking Spanish). She pulls out her LINK card to pay and the cashier asks if she wants cash back. At first she says no (probably not realizing she could do that) and then changes her mind and asks for $100 back. Okay--that pissed me off. She finishes, gets her money back and moves over to bag her groceries. Then it's my turn. I told the cashier, "I didn't know you could get cash back on food stamps." He says yes, if they have that option. He asks if I want cash back (from my debit card) and I said no, I just paid for that lady's groceries and cash back. He shook his head and agreed.
I know some people need help--that's fine, but she's probably working for cash (told the cashier that and he agreed) and so her income level (official income) is low. By the way, she drove off in a pretty nice Jeep SUV. This is why the country is bankrupt. And damn it, speak 'effin English, or become a citizen or get the hell out of my country.

Getting rid of the state scholarship program

I got my Masters' Degree from University of Illinois/Springfield with the assistance of a Legislative Scholarship from my home State Representative--Cal Skinner. I worked FOR YEARS serving the people of the State of Illinois (honorably) and NEVER got paid anywhere near what my services were worth. BUT--I got a great education with that scholarship and considered it my duty to repay the taxpayers with service. Sure, there have been some abuses of the scholarship program--but for ever abuse there are probably a thousand stories just like mine. So getting rid of the program is a bad idea--FIXING it would have been better. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says responsibility for the Occupy Wall Street movement rests squarely on the shoulders of President Obama.

"This is a very dangerous movement, and it's ironic it's happening under a president who promised to unify us," Giuliani said. "Barack Obama owns the Occupy Wall Street movement, it would not have happened but for his class warfare."

The Occupy Wall Street protests broke out in cities all over the country shortly after president Obama called for tax hikes on the wealthiest Americans. Some of the protests have turned violent. In Oakland, California, more than 100 people were arrested and eight were seriously injured Thursday, with protesters leaving stores in flames, and streets littered with broken glass and debris. A week earlier a former Marine suffered a fractured skull in a confrontation with Oakland police.

Giuliani's words Friday charged up the crowd at the Defending the American Dream Summit, sponsored by the conservative Americans for Prosperity Foundation.

The 2008 Republican presidential candidate also predicted the movement will eventually lead to the end of Obama's presidency. "Barack Obama praised it, sympathizes with it," he said. "As it gets worse and worse, I believe this will be the millstone around Barack Obama's neck that will take his presidency down."
