So Tuesday was a WONDERFUL day across America for Republicans, and yes, here in Illinois it was pretty darned good to get rid of Bill "I'M A LIBERAL AND I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT THE VOTERS IN MY DISTRICT WANT" Foster and Alexi "I LOVE MY MOB BUDDIES" G. BUT unfortunately the voters in this state allowed Pat Quinn to retain his death grip on Illinois. For the life of me I can't understand how anyone could vote for that boob, but of course the teachers' unions pushed him in spite of the fact that schools aren't getting the state money they're supposed to get, that Quinn uses them as a political tool, and that kids are not doing very well in state testing. Unions support slackers, and it's a damned shame they do not get it. They pushed lies about Bill Brady, allowed their members to believe the lies, and hide behind their lies.

So ya, the future of Illinois is bleak. Of course we'll get a tax increase. We'll suffer further deterioration of our credit rating, and the idiot known as Quinn will keep borrowing money (in concert with Madigan) and further putting our state in the red. It's so sad. So you can understand the lingering depression I'm feeling. I grieve for my state.

Take it from a retired college teacher--not everyone should go to college. This notion that each and every kid who goes to school should focus on college is BALONEY. We need MORE SKILLED WORKERS. We need people who know how to build things, fix things, and people who have ideas on how to design things. Those people are crucial. We've become a nation of whiners--too lazy to take jobs that some people think are beneath them. BUNK. I worked in a big box store selling tools and met a lot of different people--some contractors who were amazing folks who knew how to take the rawest material and build wonderful things and some who either knew how to fix stuff or could figure it out. I met just regular people who came in and had no clue how to use a tool or what was the right tool to select for a project. They knew they either took pride in doing something themselves or they just didn't have the money to hire someone to do the job--so they needed stuff to do the job right. Thankfully I am the child of self-made parents--who taught themselves how to do just about everything and worked hard. My dad in particular taught me how to do stuff--I remember him changing an engine in our garage. I learned at an early age that changing the oil in your car wasn't hard and it was a pretty cheap thing to do. My spouse is the product of working class folks too--and today we're both doing pretty well--because we scrimped and saved and knew that if we did stuff "on the cheap" we'd do ok.

More skilled workers--don't ship your kid to college if they're not suited for it. Send them to technical school--teach them how to DO STUFF, not just whine about their lack of talent. Workers have made our country great. We can do it again!

A woman charged with robbing more than $11,000 from a Waukegan bank Monday was captured less than 40 minutes later after leaving, among other clues, her personal debit card on the teller's counter.

Kimberly Ramirez not only left her debit card, charging documents say, she wrote her demand note -- which read "give me what you got" -- on the back of a prescription made out in her name and left it at the Consumers Credit Union, 2750 Washington St., around 12:57 p.m.

When Waukegan police arrived at her apartment building at about 1:30 p.m., Ramirez was outside her unit and told police she'd locked herself out. Inside the apartment, police found almost $10,000 as well as a black hat, sunglasses and black purse identical to the ones worn by the bank robber, according to a criminal complaint.
Waukegan police also spotted a red vehicle that matched the description of Ramirez's getaway car and pulled it over. The driver told police he had picked up a woman at the credit union and had been paid $1,235 to drive her around, cash the police then recovered, according to the complaint.

Ramirez is not the first bank robber to leave her name behind. In Decemberf 2008, a man charged with robbing a Chicago bank wrote his demand note on the back of his own pay stub.

The number of Illinois families receiving food stamps has reached its highest level ever.

More than 780,000 Illinois families got food stamps in June. The Illinois Department of Human Services says that is up 11.9 percent from a year earlier.

Applications for the program jumped even more -- 27 percent.

The food stamp program is formally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

A family of three can be get up to $526 in monthly benefits, depending on their income and expenses. The average in Illinois is $296 a month.

So one day last week I came home from running errands and my neighbor had kids in their backyard pool (again--it's been fairly much of a daily occurrence, and they love to be rather loud and boisterous). Well the little urchins started doing the MARCO/POLO thing (one weekend they did it for over an hour and it's maddening!) and I said, in a conversational voice (and this is a DIRECT QUOTE), "Hey guys, give it a break. You have no idea how annoying it is to hear marco/polo every 2 seconds." And then I went inside. Well the mom comes screaming over to my house, rang the door bell and went into a tirade about how I yelled at the kids (which I didn't) and how I owe them an apology (which I don't). Well she went into a further tirade about how wonderful her kids were and that I had no right to talk to them. I was stunned--told her I was sorry she felt that way. Finally couldn't take anymore (she went on and on about how respectful they are, they don't come home at 11:30pm playing music (don't know what that is about),  yada yada yada and said "whatever" and closed the door. So her little urchin lied to her. Well the bonus is they haven't been in the pool since then and it's been peaceful around here. Next time I hear them out there with their friends I'll just run the lawnmower next to the fence to have my own friendly noise! Oh ya, and I guess (according to the mom) I'm not supposed to EVER (even if in my own yard) say a word to her kids.

No, I'm not being nasty about it--it is their house and they have the right to have whomever over they want, but PLEASE at a certain point it's annoying and pretty un-neighborly. I'd love to have a 10 foot fence on that side of the yard blocking their trashy above ground pool (no deck and kind of looks like it belongs in a trailer park), but that's obviously not going to happen. But good God people, try behaving like adults and perhaps thinking that your snotty little urchin might have exaggerated a bit! This woman went from zero to 90 is a second without considering that we are pretty darned good neighbors who DON'T make noise and take nice care of our house and yard. Get over yourselves.

I love Illinois--really. I'd like to stay here and someday (I wish, I wish, I wish) I'd like to see my wonderful smart offspring staying here also, working here, serving the people of this State and raising a family here. I really don't want to leave--in spite of hating Chicago winters! But Illinois has become a burdensome tax-crazy state. Between real estate taxes and income taxes, and sales taxes I don't know if we'll be able to afford to stay here as residents when we retire. We're no different than other people--we know what's happened to Illinois--we've become a joke throughout the country. So if you want the joke to end, if you want to be proud of Illinois again, VOTE FOR BILL BRADY and every other Republican on November 2nd. Please help us rid ourselves of the crooks (also known as demon-crats) who have turned our state into a financial cess-pool.

SPRINGFIELD  –  It's pretty much common knowledge that Illinois is broke.  But a new report gives new insight into just how little money the state actually has and how many unpaid bills continue to pile up.

 The July report from Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes' office details the state's fiscal woes.  Too many bills, too little cash, and a new state budget that ignores serious gaps in revenue.

GO TO THIS LINK (SENATE BILL 1070) for the Arizona law on ILLEGAL immigration. When you read it you will be better informed than no-bama, the AG, and the Homeland Security Secretary (and probably most of this disturbing president's administration). Obviously they don't have the time or the inclination to actually read the bill to have the facts, not the bull-sh*t they're tossing around.

"The legislature finds that there is a compelling interest in the cooperative enforcement of federal immigration laws throughout all of  Arizona. The legislature declares that the intent of this act is to make attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona. The provisions of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the  United States."

And then it says VERY CLEARLY:

A PERSON IS PRESUMED TO NOT BE AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES IF THE PERSON PROVIDES TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR AGENCY ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

1. A VALID ARIZONA DRIVER LICENSE.

2. A VALID ARIZONA NON OPERATING IDENTIFICATION LICENSE.

3. A VALID TRIBAL ENROLLMENT CARD OR OTHER FORM OF TRIBAL IDENTIFICATION.

4. IF THE ENTITY REQUIRES PROOF OF LEGAL PRESENCE IN THE UNITED STATES BEFORE ISSUANCE, ANY VALID UNITED STATES FEDERAL, STATE OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ISSUED IDENTIFICATION.

So here is pretty important stuff for the police officers to consider:
"A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE MAY NOT CONSIDER RACE, COLOR OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS SECTION EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY THE UNITED STATES OR ARIZONA CONSTITUTION."

Seems pretty clear to me. I might only have a Master's Degree in Law, but that law is pretty darned explicit in it's requirements. So why the hoo-haw about it? Yep, pure politics on the part of demon-crats. Maybe a few of them should actually READ THE LAW and take a spin through some police training manuals which are very specific about forbidden behavior.

Another Blago program that costs us ba-jillions and is unnecessary

"The Illinois Auditor General's findings on the 2005 All Kids program showed serious inconsistencies that is prompting a call for more investigation from House Republicans. Last week, the Auditor General found the controversial program, first initiated by the impeached Governor Rod Blagojevich, cost taxpayers in excess of $70 million, is not run efficiently, allowing coverage when it should be terminated, and 70 percent of All Kids' medical claims were for undocumented immigrants. 
Auditor General William Holland's All Kids' findings of  showed:

• In FY09, 94,525 children whose family income was greater than 200% of the federal poverty level or were classified as undocumented immigrants were enrolled in the expanded All Kids program.
• Total claims paid in FY09 for the expanded All Kids enrollees were $79.1 million. HFS received approximately $8.9 million in premiums from enrollees, thus making the net cost of the All Kids expansion approximately $70.2 million.
• HFS does not terminate All Kids coverage when the enrollees fail to pay premiums as required by administrative rule and statute. 

• Annual reviews of All Kids eligibility – also called redeterminations – were not being adequately implemented by HFS.
• Only one pay stub is used to check income eligibility and no cross-reference to other state records occurs to double check income level.
• HFS paid nearly $50,000 in claims for individuals who exceeded the age limit.
• 43% of enrollees did not provide proof of birth and 6% of cases could not have the identity of the enrollee confirmed.
• 70% of the medical claims incurred were for citizens with undocumented citizenship, although due to program integrity deficiencies, some legal immigrants were actually misclassified as undocumented (thus failing to earn federal match).
• The results of the audit were delayed because it took HFS more than 6 months to provide some of the requested data.
• HFS paid a third party contractor over $8 million from FY 2006 – FY 2008 for marketing of the program (initial RFP stated that the marketing contract would be $3 million). 

 

This is what happens when demon-crats have total control of government. This should really remind everyone why they should vote them out of office.
