So this morning we had tickets to go to watch the Illini play in Chicago at the United Center. Sounds like a plan, right? Well unfortunately the SNOW just wasn't going to let us do that. Woke up to lots of snow, not a promising weather report, and news stories of accidents all over the highways. So today we're listening to the Illini (men) play Georgia and we're very hopeful they can do well against them. Of course we're cursing the snow (and not enjoying the driveway cleaning, etc) which prevented this annual and very fun Chicago trip. And most of all, the Illini women play following the men, and they need some serious fan support. They've been in a 5 game slump, and need some fans to put some air under their wings when they play Bradley today.
But there are lots of reasons to be thankful (as there always are), and here are some:
1. Don's Sharpening did a wonderful job rehabbing our snowblower, and it works great. Fortunately we brought it in to get worked on in early fall and they brought it back to life nicely.
2. A warm house because of a new furnace (installed last year) with a dual speed fan motor that kicked into high gear to keep our casa cozy.
3. The mortgage is paid for this month--we are not the "1 in 10" who aren't making their mortgage payments or are in foreclosure.
4. The FedEx truck that just came and delivered my new Dell Wireless Printer that I ordered on Cyber Monday. (see a prior posting about printer/computer fatigue)
5. The snow plow drivers in my town were out last night/this morning and did a nice job clearing my street. Now only if they don't pile up snow to 6' in front of my mailbox like they did last year....
6. Fresh peanut butter cookies I baked this morning while I listened to the Illini on the radio. Fresh cookies are ALWAYS a good thing.
Yep, there are LOTS more things to be thankful for, but these are just a few.
