What is the real unemployment rate?

Atlanta Federal Reserve Chief Dennis Lockhart says it's 16% and I think he's probably right. If you look around all the signs of the major economic pit we're in are around us.

"The real US unemployment rate is 16 percent if persons who have dropped out of the labor pool and those working less than they would like are counted, a Federal Reserve official said Wednesday.

"If one considers the people who would like a job but have stopped looking -- so-called discouraged workers -- and those who are working fewer hours than they want, the unemployment rate would move from the official 9.4 percent to 16 percent, said Atlanta Fed chief Dennis Lockhart." (HERE'S THE LINK: Real US unemployment rate at 16 pct: Fed official

I'm going to ask again, HOW'S THAT HOPE AND CHANGE THING WORKING FOR YOU?

"A large part of the problem, of course, is that public spending crowds out private spending. Or in other words: every dollar the government spends is one more dollar being bid away from private industry. And this goes for employment too. Every employee the government hires is one less person for the private sector to employ in productive jobs. Now, of course, if the government was just as efficient and productive as the private sector then this would not be a problem."

It's just too bad the morons who are running the federal government now never studied American History or American economics. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." (George Santayana)

Matt Murphy for Governor

I like this guy. I think you will too.

I like this guy

Take a look at Matt Murphy's column in the Illinois Review (CLICK HERE). He sure seems like a good guy. I guess as time goes by and we'll get a chance to see all the candidates. But I remember Matt through the impeachment proceedings. I listened to him and was pretty impressed. Could be we've got a winner here.

6 months later and there's lots of buyers' remorse

Things are pretty bad in the housing market here

Foreclosures spike locally in July, a 58 percent jump from June

Near my home I've watched houses go on the market and stay there. One house has been for sale for well over a year. Things are just not selling. And in the mean time foreclosures are still rising. Well, I can honestly tell you there were WAY too many people around here who bought WAY OVER THEIR HEADS--bought those huge homes on one income. You see too many of them--homes that are 3-4,000 square feet, 2-3 fancy cars in the driveway and lots of rug-rats running around. I have no clue how those people could afford those houses--I know we can't and we're fairly financially stable (I measure that by the ability to pay the bills every month and actually be able to go out to dinner every now and then--with a coupon of course!).

I guess this all proves my parents were right--don't buy things you can't afford. Kind of simple isn't it? Well, they've lived their lives like that and so have I. Taught my off-spring that too, and so far it's worked for all of us. But hmmmm, I'd sure like to have that BMW convertible. Maybe a nice used one.....ya never know.

Ain't no surprise

Cash-for-clunkers boost Japanese car sales

"The US’s cash-for-clunkers scheme, designed to bolster Detroit’s embattled carmakers, is turning out to be an even bigger boon for their Japanese rivals.

According to data published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday, Americans are using the scrappage incentives to buy more vehicles from Toyota than any of the three Detroit carmakers."

Shocking huh. Not really. There are 3 "import" cars in my garage. My parents drive 2 "import" cars. Let's be honest--they're just better cars than most American cars.

AARP loses members over health care stance

Even thought I am (age-wise) qualified to be a member of AARP, I can tell you I will NEVER join this leftist organization. They keep sending me "invitations to join" but I toss them out with the trash (actually recycling after I shred them) every time they come. They should get the clue and stop wasting money on the mailings to our home. Neither my husband or I will ever join this group, no matter what their discounts are or whatever lures they toss at us. I don't agree with their political stands on any number of issues and quite honestly I don't think they're really out for the best interests of those of us over 55. So AARP--leave us alone. Obviously you've swung WAY TOO FAR to the left for 60,000 of your members who have quit your group since you decided to side with No-bama on the health care debacle, so perhaps finally they might get a clue. The only thing that has any impact on AARP is MONEY--so if people quit they lose money. Let's see if it has any impact on their future policies.

Read the article here on the mass membership departure from AARP.

Counties with most jobless getting less stimulus funds

So this article proves what folks have thought about those HUGE stimulus dollars.

From the Champaign, Ill. newspaper: "Area counties with the highest unemployment rates aren't anywhere near the biggest recipients of federal transportation stimulus funds.

In fact, the three counties in the 15th Congressional District with the lowest jobless rates – Champaign, McLean and Piatt – are among the top recipients of stimulus projects so far."

Good news for our Cheese-head neighbors

Gov. Jim Doyle won't seek re-election

The folks in Wisconsin must be very happy. Doyle is clearly way too far to the left for most sensible Wisconsin voters, in spite of his 2 elections to the governor's office (remember the people of the great State of Illinois elected Rod-Blo twice, so we have our shameful moments also). Here's an interesting quote from the article I read about his decision not to run for governor again: "But sources familiar with his decision not to seek a third term say Doyle recognized the difficulties he may have faced next year and didn't want to go through another campaign after a long political career."

Will No-bama's health care takeover cover STICKER SHOCK?

And No-bama has recruited union thugs to "drown out" Americans who dare to speak against his health care ram proposals

So who's being the Nazi now? Demon-crats--if there are ANY reasonable people in your ranks then you'll know this is wrong. CALL OFF YOUR UNION THUGS.

Have you no shame?
Have you never studied American History and seen stories of union busting and the thugs that were used to brutalize those people who dared to speak up for themselves?
How are you SEIU people acting any different than those union-busting thugs?????

HAVE YOU NO SHAME?

Kudos to John Boehner for speaking out

Boehner calls Pelosi & Hoyer op-ed 'reprehensible'
(Click HERE for the article in THE HILL.com)

Here's some of the CRAP Pelosi & the Demon-crats are spewing about those of us who have the audacity to disagree with them and SPEAK UP:
"Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) on Monday penned an op-ed in USA Today that criticized those who have disrupted town halls and prevented lawmakers from speaking with their constituents as “un-American.”

"Boehner said each public forum should give every participant the chance to express his or her views on healthcare reform, and “to label Americans who are expressing vocal opposition to the Democrats’ plan ‘un-American’ is outrageous and reprehensible.”

Boehner also went a step further, charging House Democratic leaders with working to “silence” views in the healthcare debate both in Washington and across the country."

READ THE NY POST STORY ON HEALTH CARE LEGISLATION

DEADLY DOCTORS
**ADVISERS WANT TO RATION CARE

Here's one snippet: Don't give much care to a grandmother with Parkinson's or a child with cerebral palsy. "He explicitly defends discrimination against older patients: "Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination; every person lives through different life stages rather than being a single age. Even if 25-year-olds receive priority over 65-year-olds, everyone who is 65 years now was previously 25 years" (Lancet, Jan. 31). "

WATCH THIS VIDEO

It really shows you what cowards the Demon-crats are and how they are abusing people who disagree with them. SHAME ON YOU Cong. Dingell, Cong. Pelosi, Cong. Hoyer, and all the other Demon-crats who support this healthcare legislation you are PUSHING on us.

GO SPEAK TO Congressman Foster about your concerns

Congressman Bill Foster TOWNHALL schedule:

Aug. 11 DeKalb 4:00pm-6:00pm Library, 309 Oak Street

Aug. 13 Geneva 4:00pm-6:00pm Library, 127 James Street

Aug. 27 Warrenville 4:00pm-6:00pm Library, 28W751 Stafford Place

And his office is probably keeping track of this blog. Yep, we're holding him accountable to the voters in his district. Let's make sure he knows we're informed concerned voters!

Smart girls are everywhere!

(oh ya, and they're CONSERVATIVES!!!)

Take a look at pictures of the "angry mob" No-bama warns you against!

GO TO THIS LINK FOR MORE PICTUES OF THE "Angry Mob" that No-bama says is BAD BAD BAD. Go to a Town Hall and you can proudly join this "ANGRY MOB" group!

No-bama to the elderly: Die you old people!

By the way, tell Geraldo to SHUT UP.
He's an IDIOT.

I love Maxine

I don't think I want to get old if there's No-bama care in the U.S.

Here's a little tidbit about me....I'm in my 50's. I don't think I EVER want to go on Medicare if No-bama care goes into effect because if I happen to need some pretty serious medical care that might cost some real $ I'm pretty sure No-bama care will prescribe a bandaid or a pain killer rather than the REAL care I'll need. My parents, who are both on Medicare do not understand how ANYONE over 62 could possibly support this piece of crap proposal.

This is what happens when you elect a Socialist to be president.
Elections have consequences.
Words mean something
It's just too bad so many voters didn't get that.
Shame on them.

This shows you how much our economy is suffering

US food stamp list tops 34 million for first time

(CLICK HERE to read the story)
"Enrollment surged by 2 percent to reach a record 34.4 million people, or one in nine Americans, in May, the latest month for which figures are available."

I'll bet this guy is on the "Watch List" also

READ THIS BLOG--this guy is very interesting.

Here's the title:

We have to face the fact that the President is not an honest guy

Here's some of what he says:

"We have to face the fact that the President of the United States is not an honest guy. This may be a hard fact for some, but face it we must. Our future is at stake. The future of the freest, most prosperous country in world history is at stake.

Let’s end here with another thing that Obama doesn’t want you to know: the rich can’t pay the whole bill. So, what does this mean?

1) The middle class will get hit with more taxes.

2) Young people who normally don’t pay for medical coverage because of good health, will pay a special tax or get medical coverage.

3) Medicare will be severely cut or eliminated.

4) Seniors will bear the biggest brunt of the whole thing because certain services will not be available because of age. Well, let me correct that: they will receive end of life counseling."

Are you being spied on?

I just checked my "Sitemeter" (on the left side of this page) and much to my surprise found that someone in Congressman Bill Foster's office is checking into my blog. How did they find me? Well, last night I sent Cong. Foster a letter (as I mentioned below) expressing my "disappointment" with the how the DNC and leading Demon-crats are characterizing anyone who attends a town hall meeting and expresses disagreement with the sweeping attempted takeover of the health care system of this country by the (rapidly Socialist) federal government. And much to my surprise this morning Foster's office is checking my blog (here's a link to the Google search they did and how they discovered my site).

Kind of Orwellian isn't it? 1984 is here, and the Demon-crats are WATCHING.

SWEET---I guess now I'll get on some list of Demon-crat enemies. As if my LIFE-LONG REPUBLICAN voting record didn't already do that..... Demon-crats have revealed their true nature--they are petty, malicious, paranoid, hypocrites. But you already knew that.

By the way, I just e-mailed Rush Limbaugh information about how Foster's office searched my blog. I hope he mentions it because I suspect there are a lot of people who are being spied on by the Demon-crats.

A must read from GOPUSA

"Obama is trying to chip away at our rights. All one has to do is look at what he's already done. He has stated in the past that he wants to do away with private health insurance. Now he's trying to spin it that he doesn't. He is also trying to stop any disagreement to his plans by fear and intimidation. If you disagree with him, you are not a concerned citizen... you are part of an angry mob. And... if you are part of an angry mob, it is up to Obama's Americans to report you. Does this sound like the land of the free and the home of the brave to you?"

Go to THIS LINK and read the entire blog.

It's only fair--and they're surprised WHY?

After 6 Months, More View Obama's Presidency as a 'Failure' Than Bush's

A rather surprising finding from the newly released CNN poll. Question three on the national survey of 1,136 adults (which includes an oversample of African-Americans) asks, "Do you consider the first six months of the Obama administration to be a success or a failure?"

Thirty-seven percent (37%) said they believe the Obama administration is a "failure," while 51% consider it a "success" and 11% say it's still "too soon to tell."

An identical question was asked of the Bush administration in an August 2001 CNN/Gallup/USA Today survey. At the time, 56% said the Bush administration was a "success" while only 32% considered it a "failure." (Link)

Here's Congressman Foster's schedule

BE THERE

Aug. 11 DeKalb 4:00pm-6:00pm Library, 309 Oak Street

Aug. 13 Geneva 4:00pm-6:00pm Library, 127 James Street

Write your congressman

I just wrote letters to Congressman Bill Foster (he's Durbin's stooge) and Dick Turbin (yep, said TURBIN) expressing my "disappointment" in the DNC's latest campaign to characterize anyone who disagrees with the takeover of the nation's healthcare system by the federal government. COME ON--anyone who doesn't get that No-bama wants to make this into one huge Socialist commune isn't reading the tea leaves correctly. It's pretty obvious he's hell-bent on screwing us all by, for example, telling you when to pull the plug on grandma because that pesky care she's getting is just too danged expensive. (Say, when can you schedule your "end of life" meeting to determine how much care you'll get?) EGAD those people disgust me--how offensive and damned fascist they are--it makes me want to scream out the window again!

WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN & SENATORS.
Demand these people hold a town hall meeting and GO and express your opinion. The White House probably wants to shut these things down because they're not producing the usual No-bama fawning. EGAD, make them listen to us !!!!

By the way, my parents are both elderly and ain't no way I'm pulling their plugs. I love them.

Be afraid of this guy getting to the US Senate

The new symbol of the No-bama healthcare system

Read this one--it shows you how insane Demon-crats are

The Democrats’ Official Talking Point: If you oppose the Democrats’ plans for healthcare, you are a corporate stooge and not a real American

"
More and more videos are circulating each day of congressmen facing the wrath of the American people. Consequently, the Democrats have come up with an official talking point — the protests are bought and paid for by lobbyists and the insurance industry."

Ya, we're all stooges for corporate America.

Here are a list of logical conclusions anyone who is looking at this whole last 6 months of the No-bama administration with any level of intelligence could come to:
  • Demon-crats are morons.
  • Demon-crats are working to make the USA another socialist country.
  • Demon-crats are evil.
  • Demon-crats are stupid
  • Demon-crats hate America and want to see our beloved country in the economic and social toilet.

Keep it up No-bama

And the amount of revenue in the US Treasury will continue to plummet.

Remember buddy, it's YOUR economy now.

And it sucks!!!

How's that hope and change thing working for you now?
