This is what Demon-crat leadership in Illinois has done to our state

Data shows more Illinois residents live in poverty

Read the story by clicking ON THIS LINK.

"New data shows about 240,000 more Illinoisans lived in poverty in 2008 compared with 2000 and researchers say those statistics don't fully reflect the current recession." (Which means it'll be worse when data from the current recession kicks in.)

More and more see through No-bama

Welcome to the first day of fall

Interesting news tidbits this morning

(Click on the blue title after each number for the link to the story.)

1. Texas Teacher Stabbed to Death by Student in Classroom
"A Texas teacher who helped children with special needs by playing them the guitar was stabbed to death by a juvenile student at a high school in Tyler on Wednesday morning, authorities said." (I'm SO GLAD I'm retired from teaching.)
2."Barack Obama's churlishness is unforgivable"
From the United Kingdom's Telegraph. Even they are noticing that No-bama is, well, a dunce.
3."Environmentalists Seek to Wipe Out Plush Toilet Paper"
Keep your damned hands off my toilet paper. It's bad enough I have to use those stupid curly light bulbs, they crab about coal power generating plants (we have a LOT of coal in Illinois), they won't let us build any more nuclear plants, and DDT has been outlawed (which would kill the bugs that cause malaria in poor countries) but NOW they want to control what kind of toilet paper we wipe out butts with. INSANITY is rampant.
4.ACORN sues Breitbart
Hypocricy at it's peak. They know they got caught so they go after the people who caught them. Typical liberal whacko ploy. FIGHT THEM!!!!
5. U.S. issues $7 trillion debt, supply to stabilize
Ya, let's just keep printing money. That's the way to make sure the economy does well. Again, INSANITY!!!
6. GOP gets big bump of donors in August
I gave them money---everyone who wants to rid our country of the control of demon-crats should give the GOP money.

Why didn't your NetFlix video arrive?

"Man admits lifting 3012 Netflix DVDs from Massachusetts mail facility"

That might be why. Read the story by clicking on this link.

Personally I've never been a Netflix user. I have satellite television with HBO & Showtime (love those Tudor episodes and many of the HBO series) and believe me there's PLENTY to watch on television without renting videos. If I could figure out how to hook up my DirecTV to their ON DEMAND system (I probably could figure it out but really, who needs that many things to choose from. I'd rather read a book or work a crossword puzzle) there'd be maybe a thousand more available to me. No thanks. This guy in the story stole more than 3000 DVDs. Wow. How'd he ever make it out of the house?

Is there any value in blogging?

So I admit that my blog is probably not among the most highly read or always intellectually stimulating. Hey, at least my mom likes the blog (thanks mom for the call today). I'm ever hopeful that other people like it also, but maybe I'll start promoting this site to draw in more readers. But then again the more it's promoted the more it becomes a target for the lefties that just hate conservative Republican women. They think we're all nitwits who sit around and knit, darn, or raise 18 kids (Can you believe that woman is STILL having babies? My offspring says her uterus is probably crying!). Nope, many of us conservative Republican women are just like me--professional women who have grave concerns about the path our country is on, concerns about the enormous debt we're incurring, and concerns about what this country will be like for our children and grandchildren.

So maybe I'm saying a lot to very few people, but maybe it's the RIGHT people. Just keep reading--I have LOTS more to say. Election season is upon us--believe me, this one will be really something.

Candidates for Illinois Governor

It was my privilege last night to go to a Kane County GOP forum and meet 5 candidates for governor. Each was asked a series of questions and responded with well thought out answers. I was impressed by all of them (Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard, Adam Andrzejewski, Dan Proft and Bob Schillerstrom). I had a chance to speak to Dan Proft and Bill Brady about their candidacies. I can honestly tell you there's not a bad candidate among these 5 fine men. I took notes, listened intently and here's my conclusion: My vote will probably go to Dan Proft. He makes the most sense and has the courage to tell it like it is--we're under a Demon-crat stranglehold (my words) in the State of Illinois and he just might be the only guy who can bring us out of the darkness to some level of sanity.
Here are some other thoughts:
  • Kirk Dillard needs to stop referring to his time as Jim Edgar's Chief of Staff. Not everyone remembers who Edgar is (I do but I'm over 50) and not everyone cares about the past--we need to move on. He also must have the most campaign money because he spread a lot of bumperstickers and literature & signs around.
  • Bob Schillerstrom SHOUTS his thoughts (tone it down buddy)--he keeps touting how great everything is in DuPage County, but I'm not so sure about that. DuPage County is the mecca of how NOT to manage business placement--HAVE YOU EVER DRIVEN down Roosevelt Road? WOW--crowded and annoying.
  • Adam Andrez.... seems like a great guy but I don't think he's being realistic about how government works. Yep, transparency is good, but not the answer to all ills.
  • I like Bill Brady and particularly like his ideas about pension reform and ridding our state government of Blago folks. Unfortunately Brady's been in the Illinois legislature for a long time and might be well known in his district (Bloomington, but not necessarily elsewhere in the state. I'll bet his district loves him. By the way, his company built a home for a family in the Champaign area that will be featured on ABC's Extreme Home Makeover on October 25th. He did it for the right reasons--not for politics. Kudos to him for that.

I'm concerned that ANY candidate that's been in Springfield for a while is part of the ongoing insider corrupt-tolerant atmosphere that's been prevalent for ages. Any of these guys that have been in the legislature should have been SHOUTING what crooks Blago and the others were--and I don't recall that they did. So, in my opinion, we need someone as governor who HASN'T been part of the evil cabal of politicians who have been aiding and abetting the thievery of our money for ages. So I'm thinking I'm going to support Dan Proft.

  • Great picture that says it all

And watch this and you'll realize why I retired from teaching college

It was like swimming upstream. TOO MANY IDIOTS (and a lot of them were the teachers). What are they teaching on a lot of campuses? Liberalism--that's become like the holy grail to TOO MANY TEACHERS. I AM SO GLAD I don't have to fight that every day. Ya, call me a quitter but I'm telling you it's an impossible battle against IDIOCY on way too many campuses. Until all the old hippie geezers die out (can't come too soon) that are teaching revisionist history and that America is evil we might see some semblance of sanity. Gonna be a long haul.

By the way, I love Steven Crowder. He's a smart guy--who obviously didn't go to one of these whack-job liberal colleges.

    Even the Brits are noticing

"President Barack Obama is beginning to look out of his depth"

Here's the beginning of the article:
"It is lovely to feature in other people's dreams. The problem comes when they wake up. Barack Obama is an eloquent, brainy and likeable man with a fascinating biography. He is not George Bush. Those are great qualities. But they are not enough to lead America, let alone the world."

What do you do when you have an employee you thought could handle the job but shows he's just not capable of doing it? YOU FIRE HIM. So in the next election we need to fire No-bama. He's just SO FAR IN OVER HIS HEAD.

And here's another good quote from the article--and this is SO TRUE:
"Mr Obama has tactics a plenty - calm and patient engagement with unpleasant regimes, finding common interests, appealing to shared values - but where is the strategy? What, exactly, did "Change you can believe in" – the hallmark slogan of his campaign – actually mean?"

    Please please please

tell me you didn't watch No-bama on all the Sunday morning shows. WHY WASTE YOUR TIME????

Nope, I didn't. We went to mass, stopped afterwards and had a scone & coffee and are enjoying the backyard and the dogs. This will be a football day and a "geez, I love the weather" day. I think I'll make some chili with my homegrown tomatos and hot peppers and kick back with an adult beverage while I watch my DirecTV football coverage.

By the way, you know you have a GREAT priest when he talks about going to a U2 concert one weekend and the next attending a Marmion football game AND a Notre Dame football game. And to make things even better he said mass in 45 minutes! I really like Father Fed.

"Screw the Constitution" (Obama secretly overheard)

Obamacare preys on the young, flouts the Constitution
    CLICK ON THIS
to read this editorial from today's Washington Examiner that really tells it all.

"Not that Americans are counting on Democrats to follow the rules anyway. The financial crisis has seen to it that politicians will stop at no law, no limitation on power, to look like they're solving problems. It's only natural when they don't think the American people can solve their own."

Shame on Demon-crats. They show their disdain for the American people with every single proposal, shenanigan, slimey deal, and all the abdications to the leftists throughout the world. Shame on them.

    Another gem

Thanks Karen for sending this along.

    Fake e-mails from banks

This morning when I logged into my e-mail I noticed something that supposedly came from a bank, but it looked suspicious because it said there were some unauthorized log-ins into my account and I should click on the link and provide my log-in information so the problem should be resolved. NO WAY. So beware of any e-mails you get from ANY bank.

By the way, I did contact the bank and tell them about the sham e-mail. Make sure you report any such e-mails you might get from your bank.

    Good info from Laura Ingraham

I am a Laura Ingraham listener and subscribe to her online podcasts. I received an e-mail this morning with these 10 things listed that we should all support.

    1) Taxpayers' Bill of Rights (TABOR). Limit federal spending growth to the percentage in population growth plus the rate of inflation; provide taxpayers the option of filing a post-card sized return using a low, flat tax rate of 25%

    2) End Tax-funded abortions. Stop federal payments to Planned Parenthood and prohibit any taxpayer-subsidized health insurance plan from covering abortion

    3) Defend American Borders. Complete America's border-protection initiatives using remaining funds from the so-called stimulus bill

    4) King Dollar. Preserve a strong dollar so that Americans' savings aren't wiped out by inflation and the U.S. dollar remains the world's reserve currency

    5) Empower American Business. Immediately slash corporate tax rates to 15% and scrap the corporate capital-gains tax altogether

    6) Defend America. Strengthen America to defend our homeland and fully fund an operational, layered missile-defense system

    7) Statism Exit Plan. De-fund czars; immediately cease bailout payments to failed companies; ban future bailouts

    8) End Generational Theft. As few believe America's entitlement programs will be able to pay benefits to future generations, provide younger workers the choice of diverting payroll/Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts

    9) Restore America's System of Justice. Introduce British-style penalties for frivolous lawsuits, where those who launch unsuccessful lawsuits are liable for the defendants' legal bills

    10) American Energy Independence. All-of-the-Above strategy that embraces alternatives, expands and accelerates exploration and production of oil and natural gas, and jumpstarts dramatic increases in nuclear power

And this is why I'm happy to be retired

"Teachers unions have contributed over $1.3 million to ACORN and its affiliates, since 2005, according to U.S. Labor Department financial disclosure forms." SOURCE: WASHINGTON EXAMINER

When I was forced to pay union dues and therefore contribute to both the NEA and IEA I asked for a refund of the "political" money the NEA took from me. I never got it back.

    "
Both the NEA and Teachers AFL-CIO advertise as strong advocates for children. ACORN staffers in Baltimore were caught on video instructing James O’Keefe, the undercover filmmaker, and his partner Hannah Giles how they could falsify documents and obtain benefits for 13 “very young girls” from El Salvador."

I was never happy with the political positions NEA took--they always supported Demon-crats (I obviously didn't) and they promoted such things as condoms in schools and the teaching about "alternative cultures" (like homosexuality) which I didn't think had any place in the classroom. Let's just say I was never a darling in the union world. I vowed to quit teaching when I'd be forced into another teacher's union. I kept my word. I'm not happily retired and not sending those thieves at NEA or any other union ONE CENT.

Watch ACORN members advise how to get tax dollars to aid a prostitution business

And they're not criminals???? OH COME ON.

Read this all the way to the end

Reprinted from this afternoon's Washington Examiner:
EXAMINER HOT ZONE: Does Obama think Americans are so gullible?
    Here's some of the highlights:
--"President Obama’s address to Congress and the nation Wednesday evening was yet another illustration of his seemingly endless ability to soar to genuinely impressive rhetorical heights without ever landing back on truthful ground."
--"So it was throughout this 47- minute nationally televised monument to presidential flimflam. Sometimes the prevarications were so obvious that even the president’s most ardent supporters – like the news staff of The New York Times - had to concede that he was playing fast and loose with the facts."
--"In short, did the president sleep through August?"

I've said it before and I'll keep repeating it--No-bama is a LIAR. It's becoming so glaringly obvious that it's pathetic. I hope those dopes who voted for him are listening.

CLICK THIS for the link to the editorial

CLICK THIS for another stellar piece from the Washington Examiner today.
"Obamacare won't cover illegal immigrants? Yes it will, says Congressional Research Service"

    Wednesday, September 9, 2009

    Yep, he's a liar

Obama heckled by GOP during speech: 'You lie!'

Rep. Joe Wilson from South Carolina said it, and he's right. And then Senator McCain (of course) said nasty things about a Republican. That's why McCain is a dolt.

So did you listen to the No-bama infomercial? I didn't waste an hour of my time. Instead I chased my dogs around the back yard and enjoyed the glorious weather with my husband. That was a much better use of my time rather than listening to No-bama lie to the US Congress, the American people, and the world. Geez, I just saw a few clips and had to laugh--this guy is SO OBVIOUSLY a liar that it's laughable--and people throughout the world must be laughing that the voters of this country put this idiot into the presidency. How horribly sad for all of us that this guy sits in the White House.

So please folks, use come common sense--revenue neutral---PULEEZE. How stupid are you No-bama. Like I said in an earlier post--you'd think a Harvard Law grad would be smarter. I guess not.

And by the way, kudos to Rep. Wilson. He just said what we were all thinking.

This is how Congress sees the world

Finally someone has the guts to arrest some of he criminals in ACORN

11 accused of faking voter registration cards in Miami-Dade

"Eleven people hired to register potential voters in Miami-Dade County before last year's presidential election were being sought Wednesday for falsifying hundreds of voter registration cards. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office issued arrest warrants for each of the 11 suspects, all of whom worked for the local chapter of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, (ACORN)."

Go to these sites to see the arrest warrants:
    Site 1 ----- Site 2

How can a Harvard graduate be so stupid?

Obama to Endorse Public Plan in Speech

He hasn't learned anything, has he? If he keeps on this course he is guaranteeing he'll be a one term president. You'd think someone who went to such prestigious schools would actually have a brain and USE IT! I guess not. Really proves how useless it is to attend those expensive schools. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL--IF NO-BAMA IS ANY EXAMPLE OF THE SMARTS YOU GET FROM SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY IT'S PRETTY CLEAR IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY.

And then there's this from the Washington Times today:

"For a politician who promised to be post-partisan and unifying, President Obama is proving to be awfully ideological and divisive. His speech on Monday at an AFL-CIO picnic in Cincinnati showed that he enters Wednesday's national address on health care in full attack-dog mode. That approach is not likely to bring Americans together to support his unpopular policies.

As so often has been the case, Mr. Obama portrayed these United States as hopelessly misguided until he graced the Oval Office with his presence. "Wealth was valued over work, selfishness over sacrifice, greed over responsibility," he said. Notice how Mr. Obama never seems content with criticizing the choices of others but instead attacks their motives and character"

Read through this and you might agree

    YES, I'M A BAD AMERICAN

and does not entitle you to anything. Get over it!
I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English..
I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God

Can I get an AMEN on that one?

I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.

And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license.
I think it's good..... And I'm proud that 'God' is written on my money.

I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.
I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause.
Get a Job and do your part!
I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.
I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think.
I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA ?!

(Thanks to Karen for forwarding this to me.)

Did the US way of life die on election day?

Fascinating stuff here (thanks Karen for passing this along).

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election of November 2008:

    • Number of States won by: Democrats:19 Republicans: 29
    • Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
    • Population of counties won by: Democrats:127 million Republicans: 143 million
    • Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler 's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

He just doesn't get it, does he?

Michael Barone has a good one today in the Washington Examiner called "The Convenient Fantasies of President Obama."
    1. About Van Jones --the avowed Communist No-bama appointed as his "Green Jobs Czar" (what a lot of hooey) and the eco-friendly crapola: "If there were money to be made in green jobs, private investors would be creating them already. In fact big corporations like General Electric are scrambling to position themselves as green companies, gaming legislation and regulations so they can make profits by doing so. Big business is ready to create green jobs -- if government subsidizes them. But the idea that green jobs will replace all the lost carbon-emitting jobs is magical thinking."
    2. About part of this health care issue: "There is an element of convenient fantasy as well in Obama's health care statements to date. We are going to save money by spending money. We are going to solve our fiscal problems with a program that will increase the national debt by $1,000,000,000,000 over a decade. We are going to guarantee you can keep your current insurance with a bill that encourages your employer to stop offering it."
    3. About what Demon-crats are in the habit of doing: "Most politicians like to promise voters all good things at once. Democrats got in the habit of doing this over the past 14 years when they could not pass legislation by themselves."

Read the article here: Michael Barone today in the Washington Examiner
