Watch this video

There's an interesting website called "For the Good of Illinois" that posted this video that you might see on your local TV station sometime. Here's a link: INCONVENIENT ILLINOIS FACTS

Unless you're living in a cave you know how our esteemed governor is damaging our state. It's pretty stark when the individual gritty facts are exposed.

Now Bush is really pissing me off

Tonight is the last time George Bush will give a State of the Union address. In today's POLITICO is a story about just what Bush will talk about. Here's a link: Final SOTU unlikely to yield surprises

Now here's the part that really pisses me off: "The president will single out Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Republican Leader John Boehner for their work in shaping the bill, which comes before the full House Tuesday."

So Bush will praise Pelosi (probably the most ineffective Speaker we've ever had).

I know this is all political-speak (another language foreign to most "regular/sane Americans") but aren't you tired of this way of doing business in Washington? Praise her while she stabs you in the back and calls you a bad person, stupid and dishonest. OH MY--how bad does it have to get before someone doesn't dabble in this perversity ?????? IT'S DISGUSTING.

So tonight I won't be watching Bush--he's really pissing me off. I'm sadly disappointed in him and have been for some time in spite of having voted for him for president TWICE.

I'll be watching Big 10 Women's Basketball instead. It'll be more fun and won't raise my blood pressure like Bush would....

Hillary's biggest ass-et?

Well it's about time someone made this point: "The interventions of former president Clinton are turning Democrats off his wife and raising constitutional questions." But wouldn't you know it was a British writer--no American press (who disgustingly fawn all over the Clinton's) would dare to discuss this issue.

So read this story:

"Hillary's biggest asset? Now Bill is looking like a liability"

Hmmm....anyone who lived through the Clinton presidency absolutely understands this guy wouldn't stay in the background--he wants to be at the "grownups table" again. He'll think he's president. YUCK.

On another note, last night I was flipping channels and saw a Fox News story about the guy who does polling for them. He had a panel of folks in Miami together and he asked them questions about the Hillary/Obama campaign. Almost all of them (must have been a group of insane people) said they'd like to see Bill Clinton have another term in the White House. OH MY GOD--I screamed, yelled, ranted at the TV screen. WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS. How stupid can people be? (Well, they proved their worth....) By the way, they also indicated Bill wasn't helping his wife by making the campaign a "race" issue. They love him but want him to shut up on this ONE issue. Morons.....

"Reasonability has left the Capitol Building"

Read this story from Illinois Review on Governor Blago.

Great quote: "Passed this fall, Illinois Democrats criminalized employers who use E-Verify to check the legal status of an employee. Over this issue, Homeland Security sued Illinois on national security grounds."

Yep, so here in Illinois employers who follow federal law are considered criminals. Once again proves we're not serious about illegal immigration.

Here's a suggestion: don't do business with anyone who won't verify their employees are LEGALLY in the United States. When the roofing guy comes to your door, ask him the status of their employees. When the lawn guy solicits your business, ask him. When the guy who wants to seal your driveway quotes you a price, ask him. If we all refuse to do business with folks who employee illegal aliens then they might get a clue and actually hire people who are here legally.

Governor Blago--you're damaging our state beyond belief. Why don't you try to follow the law like the rest of us have to?????

Goodbye Fred, we hardly knew ya

Well it's official. I am out of the Fred Thompson for President fan club. Today I took my Fred for President bumper sticker off my car. The bumper sure was clean underneath, and considering my car hasn't seen a car wash in weeks (WAY too cold) it's understandable.

In its place I put a MARK DAVOUST FOR COUNTY BOARD sticker--well, kind of. I put that one on the rear window.

That clean spot on the bumper is too pretty to cover up.

Thanks Fred. Too bad I already voted for you.....grrrrr. You could have waited until after Super Tuesday. Oh well, I see you on Law & Order. I heard you're on your way back.

The Oberweis race to Congress

Today's Chicago Tribune has an interesting article on the ongoing race to replace our retired Congressman Denny Hastert. Seems there is a lot of money being spent (Oberweis is mostly spending his own--he made it honestly, he can spend it any way he pleases) and the race has become rather nasty in nature.

As a registered Republican I've received TONS of mailers from both sides and frankly, I'm sick of it. The most offensive was the flying cows mailer that Chris Lauzen sent out--flying dead cows supposedly representing Oberweis' "failed" former election runs. Now I'm not sure if Lauzen knows this but even Abe Lincoln lost more than a few elections before finally being elected president. So Chris, who cares if Oberweis lost a few elections. At least he didn't try to change his name to JIM OBERWEIS, DAIRYMAN (some time ago Chris tried to change his name to CHRIS LAUZEN CPA---DUMB DUMB DUMB).

Now personally I like Chris, but I think my district needs someone who just might raise his voice a time or two and has the will to fight the Democrats in Congress. Chris also seems to be waging an "anti wealth" campaign--in other words, if you work hard and become rich (that's certainly MY goal) then somehow you're bad bad bad. Kinda sounds like a Democrat? But no, Chris is a good Republican, and a good family man. I guess his consultants thought that would be a good way to gain public support. Or maybe he's just unhappy he's in a primary battle against a millionaire. I don't know.

But I'm a Jim Oberweis person, and an early voter who's already voted for Jim twice (primary & race to fill Hastert's seat). I'm hoping the voters in this district will see past all the mess of the campaign and NOT elect Chris Lauzen, who seems like a "go along to get along" kind of guy. Besides, Lauzen supported instituting a tax on interent sales in Illinois. NO MORE TAXES please. I'm paying way too much now !!!

"The Billary Road to Republican Victory"

Frank Rich (noted liberal New York Times columnist) has a column dated 1/27/08 with the title above. Read it--it's interesting.

Good quote from the article: "For the Republicans, that means not just a double dose of the one steroid, Clinton hatred, that might yet restore their party’s unity but also two fat targets."

That just might be true. Can you imagine how many people would vote for ANYBODY BUT HILLARY as an act of utter defiance of dislike of the woman. No matter how much she tries she's just not perceived as likable.

This last paragraph in the column says it all: "Any Democrat who seriously thinks that Bill will fade away if Hillary wins the nomination — let alone that the Clintons will escape being fully vetted — is a Democrat who, as the man said, believes in fairy tales."

Ok you Democrats--what are you smoking if you think the voters of this country will somehow magically warm up to her??????

And now even the Kennedys have turned their back on Hillary

So not only has Caroline Kennedy endorsed Illinois' very own Barak Obama, but the 'car crashing over the bridge Ted Kennedy' has also. Read this story from the Boston Globe about dear Teddy and the endorsement he'll announce on Monday. It seems that his buddy Bill Clinton tried his best to get Teddy to change his mind to no avail. "The former president also called Kennedy in a vain attempt to keep him out of the race, a source familiar with the conversation said."

Today in the New York Times Caroline Kennedy said Obama would be a president like her dad. "He has built a movement that is changing the face of politics in this country, and he has demonstrated a special gift for inspiring young people — known for a willingness to volunteer, but an aversion to politics — to become engaged in the political process."

Wow. Bill must be fuming. That's two Kennedys that have turned against him. No, not against Hillary, because I'm becoming more convinced every day that HE thinks he's running for president. Yep, he's a little wacked, but isn't that why so many people love him?

The Clinton way? AHA--the slimey way!

Read this story about Hillary's slimey political ways. Seems that she gave a $1 million earmark to a Harlem based pastor for his "non-profit" and then secured his endorsement. Hmmm....smacks of bribery.

Here's what's at risk if you don't vote Republican

Just imagine four (OR EIGHT) years of this.
It's a nauseating thought, isn't it?

Remember him wagging his finger at the news media saying, "I didn't have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky."

Q: How do you know when Bill Clinton is lying?
A: Every time he wags his finger. And of course when he's moving his lips.

Isn't it pretty when Democrats turn against each other?

Now even John Kerry (the Senator who served in Vietnam) is saying former President Clinton "abuses the truth" - a pretty way of calling him a liar. Read this story from CNN.

Gosh this is fun--let's all watch the Democrats savage each other!

The mythical first black president

I have NEVER understood this premise that Clinton was the first black president. OH COME ON--since when is a guy from Arkansas that went to Yale who loved Fullbright somehow magically a black guy?????

Well here's an article written by Monica Crowley who zeros in on that myth. It's a good read.

I love the last sentence: "Then again, would you expect anything different from two people whose own characters are empty and malignant?" YES, finally someone provides an accurate description of the Clintons.

I love Peggy Noonan, but is she right on this?

Did President George Bush really cripple the Republican party? Read her column today in the Wall Street Journal. She said, "George W. Bush destroyed the Republican Party, by which I mean he sundered it, broke its constituent pieces apart and set them against each other. He did this on spending, the size of government, war, the ability to prosecute war, immigration and other issues."

I voted for Bush the father and Bush the son. I supported them and still do, but honestly I'm kind of disappointed in President Bush for compromise after compromise. Geez, enough of the 'touchy-feely let's have Ted Kennedy over for dinner and a movie' stuff. He had a wonderful opportunity to revive the Reagan revolution and maybe blew it. He's made it difficult to be a Republican because of his wishy-washy nature about key political issues.

Hillary the Queen of Denial

She'll say and do anything to get and keep power. Ya, sure, Sen. Obama knew Tony Rezko and all us folks here in Illinois understand the grimey nature of Chicago politics. But Hillary, well, she's a special EXTRA GRIMEY kinda person. She bashed Sen. Obama over the head with the Rezko thing the other night, but here's proof she's not exactly clean on the Rezko thing herself.

Another life cut short because of alcohol

As I read my Tribune this morning and dined on my cholesterol lowering oatmeal I was watching the CLTV news and saw a crawler on the bottom of the screen about Randy Salerno from CBS Channel 2 having died. How incredibly tragic.

Apparently he was a passenger on a snowmobile in Eagle River, Wisconsin, and his driver had been drinking and speeding, lost control and struck several trees.

Mr. Salerno lived in Crystal Lake, near my childhood home. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Our condolences to them.

Could there be a slip up?

Remember Al Capone? The feds couldn't get him on any regular criminal charges so they nailed him on income tax evasion and off he went to federal prison. Well, perhaps Drew Peterson might suffer the same fate. Read this story in today's SunTimes about how he needed his estranged wife's signature to sign off on a deal to buy a house for him and his girlfriend Stacy, who went on to become his 4th wife.

What wife would sign papers so your "estranged" husband could buy a house for his 18 year old girlfriend??????

The name Savio sounds Italian, and as an Italian woman myself I can tell you there's NO WAY. Us Italian women just don't do that--we get mad, and get even. Maybe Kathleen is getting even from the grave. God rest her soul and many prayers for her family who have endured this awful experience with grace.

Perhaps we all underestimated Saddam

Read this story about the FBI interrogator who "debriefed" Saddam Hussein. Seems he was not only evil but a crafty devil.

"Saddam Hussein initially didn't think the U.S. would invade Iraq to destroy weapons of mass destruction, so he kept the fact that he had none a secret to prevent an Iranian invasion he believed could happen. The Iraqi dictator revealed this thinking to George Piro, the FBI agent assigned to interrogate him after his capture."

May he burn in hell....oh, I'm sure he is.

Top Earmark-er Clinton Grants $303,000 to Gay Lobby Group

Ya, she's really the candidate of change---CHANGE IN HER POCKET !!!!

Read this article about the queen of earmarks--Hillary

I love this quote: "That was one of 261 earmarks Clinton personally helped usher through Congress. That's more earmarks than any other member of Congress seeking the presidency, according to an analysis by the watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW)."

Endorsements

  1. The Kane County Chronicle has endorsed Mark Davoust. I strongly endorse his candidacy. He's an honest guy who tells the truth - refreshing in today's political world.
  2. The Kane County Chronicle has endorsed Karen McConnaughay calling her "a leader who gets things done." Her opponent is "truth impaired" (my words). She is a hardworking honest woman who leads our county well. She should have your vote.
  3. The Daily Herald has endorsed Karen McConnaughay saying, "Incumbent McConnaughay, of St. Charles, has had a firm hand on the helm of that rare government body these days that can actually tout sound accomplishment along with fiscal responsibility."
  4. The Sun Times has endorsed Jim Oberweis for Congress.
  5. The Chicago Tribune has endorsed Kay Hatcher for District 50 State House of Representatives.
  6. The Chicago Tribune has endorsed Jim Oberweis for US Congress to replace Denny Hastert who has retired. About Oberweis they said, "He has a much better grounding on national issues than Lauzen..."
I support all those endorsements. I have no clue what kind of impact endorsements have these days other than to have another opinion publicized. I think it's also a good thing to have neutral parties examine the candidates and provide their views.

Some people never learn--alcohol abuse is horrible

Read this story about the horrible effects of alcohol abuse entitled "Woman who killed daughter in DUI arrested a third time."

Apparently this woman was once convicted of driving drunk and being involved in an accident that killed her 11 month old daughter. She's still driving and is now accused of driving with a .287 alcohol level. OH MY GOD.

When you're at work it's never a good idea to surf the porn sites

The municipal government in Washington, DC has had "difficulties" in the past, but this is kind of over the edge. Read this article about how their employees have been surfing the web on city time, and accessing porn sites. Frankly, I don't see why those sites would be remotely interesting, but I guess they seemed to think they were.

"Employees from 18 city agencies, including the Office of the Attorney General, were accessing pornographic or sexual Web sites.

D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles says the employees' actions are egregious.

"It's outrageous that people should access hard-core pornography, but to do it on government time...," Nickles says. "This will not be tolerated in our government, and least of all in the Office of the Attorney General.""

It's about time

It's about time that even the liberals are catching on to the Clinton smear & lying tactics. Read this article in THE NATION entitled "Slick Willie Rides Again."

I love this quote: "We are sure to see more of Mr. Bill's intrusions because the former president is pathological about preserving his own place in the spotlight. He can't stand it when he is not the story and, one way or another, he will make himself the story. I used to be sympathetic toward Mrs. Clinton on this point. No longer."

The article by William Greider (left leaning liberal) is a good read. But here's the question: if liberals are upset by Bill Clinton's lies NOW, why weren't they equally upset when he used his staff to obstruct justice and caused millions of taxpayer dollars to be spent in his philandering ways when he was in the White House? Hmmmmm, makes one think.

Dick Morris on Hillary Clinton donations

Read this Dick Morris story called "Donations to Hillary Unethical." This from a guy who used to be a Clinton advisor.

Great quote: "What better illustration could one have of Hillary’s conflicts of interest than this one?"

Another Hollywood figure dies too soon

I'm not much of a movie goer, but I have HBO & other movie channels on my wonderful DirecTV system and have watched Brokeback Mountain a number of times (yes, I admit I change the channel during the sex scenes). Heath Ledger was one of the stars, and honestly probably the best one in the movie. He was found dead this afternoon in New York and there is suspicion of an overdose. Lots of stories are swirling of suicide and depression. How horribly sad.

Ledger is the father of a little girl from a "relationship" with Michelle Williams, a co-star from Brokeback Mountain. I grieve for his daughter--first that his parents didn't see fit to marry and second that she will grow up without a father and always wonder why her dad engaged in behavior that led to his death. That is a stigma that may well taint her life.

Makes ya wonder--how can these Hollywood types have such success and yet be so screwed up?

Bill Cosby, man of the hour

I don't know what his politics are and honestly don't care. Read this article on Bill Cosby's appearance at a Rainbow/Push event and you'll see this is one honest guy when it comes to commentary on parenting.

Here's a great quote from the article: "Education is the answer, he said. "You need parents to say. . . .'You don't have to be at Northwestern, but what you have to be is in those books.' "

Thomas Sowell--a great American

Thomas Sowell has to be one of the smartest and best thinkers of our time. Read this article he wrote for National Review Online. The title is: "Dangerous Demagoguery--Beware candidates who inspire but don't inform."

All the jabber about CHANGE is annoying. Here's a great Sowell quote from the article: "
Many people find it thrilling that the mantra of “change” is ringing out across the land during this election year. But let’s do what the politicians hope that we will never do — stop and think.

It is doubtful whether there is a single human being in this entire country who is 100 percent satisfied with everything that is going on. In other words, everybody is for change. The real difference between liberals and conservatives is in which specific things they want to change, and in what way."

Liberals and conservatives are SO FAR APART--liberals are about feelings. Conservatives feel, formulate, and ACT. We don't sit around and moan and groan. We actually DO THINGS to achieve success. Liberals decry their victimhood. Conservatives can take any situation and gain success through hard work. That's why we love this country and keep forging ahead. That's why we're positive people.

How could anyone advocate telling the truth?

Fred Thompson said this:
"I think that what is more important is leadership. And what’s more important, as a part of leadership, is telling the American people the truth and having the courage to do that. Telling the American people — for example, we were talking about:

Social Security, something everybody knows [is in trouble], but nobody wants to talk about; that the war is going to be protracted, probably, it’s going to take some time and more resources than we’ve been devoting as a percentage of our economy; that we’re not going to be energy independent in a few years.

It’s going to take a longer time. We’re going to have to move that big battleship as much as we can in as short a period of time as we can, but it’s not around the corner. That we’re spending our next generation’s money, and we’re bankrupting them, in many respects, as far as our entitlement programs are concerned. Those are truths. We’re going to have to go to the American people and say, “Here’s the deal. Here’s what we need to do. Let’s do what generations have done in times past: Come together. Do the right thing.”

That’s the change that we need. I wish we could change to that."

Honesty. WOW--what a concept. Fred, I miss you already.

Kudos for Fred Thompson

Please read this Kathryn Jean Lopez article on Fred Thompson.

I love this quote from the article: "You got the sense from those commentaries that he just gets it. He cares about his country and he cares about common sense. The good conservative sense Thompson articulated certainly resonated — the blogosphere got enthused for a possible presidential run. They could get into this guy. "

That's what I saw in Fred Thompson, and so did my parents and friends who moved to Kentucky from my area. We saw a man who GOT IT and cared about his country enough to tell the truth, in spite of the usual trend to sugarcoat it on the campaign trail. That's why he won't win the nomination and will probably never be president---because he's straightforward and tells you the truth--not something to make you feel all cuddly and warm.

Here's some of Fred's best:
“the fundamental, conservative principles that have unified us for over two centuries.”

-First, the role of the federal government is limited to the powers given to it in the Constitution
-Second, a dollar belongs in the pocket of the person who earns it, unless the government has a compelling reason why it can use it better
-Third, we don't spend money we don't have, or borrow money that our children and grandchildren will have to pay back
-And the best way to avoid war is to be stronger than our enemies. But if we’re caught in a fight, we need to win it because not doing so makes us much more likely to be attacked in the future
-Also the federal judiciary is supposed to decide cases, not set social policy — and bad social policy at that
-And the bigger the government gets, the less competent it is to run our lives.

Reread that comment about how to avoid war. Doesn't that remind you of General Patton's words: "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

I don't want some touchy-feely (eek, reminds me of Bill Clinton) kind of president. I want one who makes the other guy die for his country--that means we'll still be around.

So Fred, I'm sorry to see you leave the campaign. Thanks for the memories, and I'll be watching you on Law & Order, but maybe you could stop in every now and then and remind of us of what real leaders are like. Unfortunately there aren't too many examples in the campaigns today.

I'm disappointed that Fred isn't in the race anymore

"Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people."

So I was an "early voter" and cast my vote for Fred Thompson. Hmmmm, makes me not so happy now. He hasn't announced his support for anyone else. It better not be the Huckster--that'll make me pretty unhappy.

Have you ever nodded off at an inconvenient time?

We know Bill Clinton is a hypocrite and a liar, but now we know more about him. Check out this video

Barack Obama is finally waking up and fighting back at Clinton the Liar, but in a kind and gentle manner. On Good Morning America he said, "
He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts -- whether it's about my record of opposition to the war in Iraq or our approach to organizing in Las Vegas.

"This has become a habit, and one of the things that we're going to have to do is to directly confront Bill Clinton when he's making statements that are not factually accurate," Obama added. (Good Morning America story)

It's about time. Clinton has a long history of being a liar, but it's time that another Democrat tell it like it is.

Pearls of wisdom from Karen

A Store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
"You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!" There are 6 floors in the building and the attributes of the men on display increase as the shopper ascends the flights.

There is, however, a catch . . . You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up the next floor, but you cannot change your mind and go back the lower floor to select except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband .......

The sign on the door of the first floor reads: Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord.
The second floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.

The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor. and sign reads: Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead good-looking and help with housework."Oh, mercy me!"she exclaims, "I can
hardly stand it"

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads: Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with housework's, and have a strong romantic streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 4,363,222 (four million, three hundred and sixty-three thousand, two hundred and twenty-two) to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Politicians continue to punish voters for their incompetence

by Tony Peraica

Well, as expected, our Illinois General Assembly approved Governor Blagojevich's amendatory veto of the CTA transit bill, which increases the sales tax by a quarter of a percentage point in Cook County and a half of a percentage point in the five collar counties. It also gives the Chicago City Council six months to enact a 40 percent increase in the real estate transfer tax.

By passing this half-billion dollar tax increase, the Illinois General Assembly has shown that they care more about protecting their political patronage and covering their mistakes, than in protecting and serving the voters of this state.

The CTA is full of waste and abuse, and deserves to be streamlined – not pumped full of additional taxpayer money.

But so is the case with Illinois politicians – they spend, spend, spend and tax, tax, tax. Their corruption has made Illinois the laughingstock of the country, and their incompetence has destroyed our economic climate and put our state deep in debt.

The numerous Republicans who supported this tax increase – including the current and former chairmen of the DuPage County Republican Party – should be ashamed of themselves for turning their backs on their constituents and abandoning the core principles of their Party.

Another wonderful bumper sticker

Please, do what you can to make sure this doesn't become reality !!!

Can you imagine?

Hosting an event at an organization you have no affiliation with and is "exclusive" and exclusionary? Well, here's another Clinton (yuck) story, only this time it's their "don't talk to me" daughter who ticked off the Stanford University newspaper. I've met some liar politicians, but it's amazing how the parents have passed the gene on to their daughter.

You've heard the term "bat-shit crazy" ????

Tom Cruise appears to be the king of BAT SHIT CRAZY. Him & the Scientology crapola he spews. Watch this video and if you don't have a chill run up your spine I'd be surprised. Wow--according to him his "religion" that came from aliens is the answer to all questions of the universe.

Very frightening!

Human Events.com Endorses Fred Thompson

Check out this Human Events.com glowing endorsement of Fred Thompson.

Sure would like to see him get some success in this LONG AND MISERABLE election process.

The inexact art of polling

One of the features of the Real Clear Politics website is the posting of almost daily annoying polling of all the presidential candidates. OH MY GOD all this polling is driving me batty. And another thing, I don't know about you, but I am already sick and tired of those constant calls from auto-dialers, political parties, and recorded messages from political candidates. When my phone rings I want it to be a friend or family member with good news and kind thoughts, not someone looking for money or some stupid pollster at the other end.

All this leads me to wonder about the failure of the Democratic pollsters in the New Hampshire primarly election. Hmmm, Obama was supposed to win that handily according to them, but we know the Clinton-istas pulled another "rise from the dead" on that night. EGAD.

So here's what I'm wondering....how many people flat out lied to the pollsters? How many wanted to appear racially sensitive or politically correct ("Ya, I'm voting for that Obama--the black guy.") and instead voted for Broomhilda.

I don't know about you, but I lie to pollsters all the time--whether it's about fabric softener or political candidates or political issues. Maybe that's twisted, but it's kind of my way of playing with the whole polling thing, which honestly I find kind of slimey.

Next time you get polled by one of these goons go ahead and try my system: "Yes, I love that candidate." And then vote for the other guy. Don't chuckle too hard or you'll make them suspicious.

My friend Peg sent me this

Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says, "We only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks. It's as simple as that."

So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one. Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man."

The next day, the second woman accidentally steps on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together, with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks. But one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on ... very tall, muscular, and thin, with long eyelashes. St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.

The happy woman says, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?"

The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck."

Read this Ann Coulter column

I think I have every Ann Coulter book. I receive her columns via e-mail and read this one the other day about the death of her father. Thankfully my dad and mom are alive and kicking (and vigilant conservative elderly Republicans) but the Coulter column brings home the reality of time passing and the inevitability of losing our parents. I loved the column and honestly cried while I read it.

If your parents are still with you call them and tell them you love them or go hug them.

Mark Davoust for County Board

I believe in good government and that honest people should represent us. I know someone who represents us well and does it for all the right reasons, unlike so many other people who run for office. Mark Davoust is running for reelection to the Kane County Board in District 14. I urge you to support him.

Here's a link to help you get to know him.

Good Job Fred !

It's about time someone calls out Huckabee.

Check out this short article. Here's my favorite quote from it: "Thompson questioned Huckabee's commitment to Reagan's principles." Huckabee talks a good game, but he's no conservative and he seems to have some difficulty answering a fairly simple question (as in when Romney asked him about whether he raised taxes in Arkansas).

Here's another good article entitled "Laid Back Thompson goes on attack at GOP Debate."

Fred's on the march. Don't know if he can catch up to the big money guys, but he's certainly going to make this an interesting contest.

Some hope for people who suffer from Alzheimers?

Check out this link. It seems there is some research concerning Enbrel--a common arthritis drug. Looks promising. We'll see how it progresses.

Here's an interesting line from the story: " A pilot study carried out by U.S. researchers found one patient had his symptoms reversed "in minutes."

Voter ID Case before the Supreme Court

Directly from the Family Research Council today:

Photo Finish for Voter ID Case

In a case with major implications for the upcoming election, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments yesterday in a voter ID suit brought by the Indiana Democratic Party and the ACLU. Both organizations claim that the current law, which requires voters to present a government-issued picture ID on Election Day, imposes an unconstitutional burden on Indiana residents. To help alleviate the nuisance for the small population (1%) without IDs, Indiana allows voters to get free, state-sponsored picture IDs at their local DMV. The law even makes special accommodations for those who arrive unprepared on Election Day. Voters may cast provisional ballots then travel to their county seat within 10 days with the proper identification and validate their vote. If Indiana's law is upheld, it paves the way for other states to impose similar rules and ultimately crack down on the voter fraud that has become so prevalent in recent years. Even Justice Anthony Kennedy implied that he didn't consider the law unreasonable. "You want us to invalidate a statute on the ground that it's a minor inconvenience to a small percentage of voters?" Attorney Paul Smith argued that some people would be required to travel as far as 17 miles by bus to reach their county seats. What a sad commentary on our nation. Has America, the torchbearer of democracy, whose men and women are fighting at this very moment on its behalf, become so indifferent to our freedoms that we wouldn't travel 30 minutes to exercise them? Need we remind Mr. Smith what Iraq, South Africa, and many other countries have sacrificed to embrace the liberty Americans are so quick to take for granted? While I don't underestimate the challenge this law presents to some Hoosiers, obtaining a picture ID is certainly a small price to pay for protecting the integrity of the democratic process.

Once again an answer to the age old question

Camille Paglia has it right

Yes, Hillary does have a "disdain for masculinity." Go to the link below and read her article in Salon.com. Paglia is the quintessential liberal feminist and she's not voting for Hillary. That ought to really tell you something !!!

Camille Paglia says: Hillary without tears: Why it's time to close the book on the Clintons

Camille asks, "Do Americans truly want this hard-bitten Machiavellian back in the White House?" Let's hope the answer is an emphatic NO.

Come on South Carolina and Michigan--show some backbone and banish the Clintons back to their own petty worlds.

So why is it a bad thing to show an ID card when you go to vote?

Recent Vote Fraud Cases

National - 01.09.08
Voter cited by opponents of Indiana's ID law was reported to be registered in two states. Today it was reported that one of the individuals used by opponents to the Indiana Voter ID law as an example of how the law hurts older Hoosiers is registered to vote in two states. Faye Buis-Ewing, 72, has been telling the media she is a 50-year resident of Indiana, but has since admitted to registering to vote in both Florida and Indiana. In November 2006, Buis-Ewing tried to use her Florida driver's license to vote in the Indiana elections. When poll workers informed her that she could not vote without a valid Indiana photo ID and offered her a provisional ballot, she declined. Subsequently, the Indiana League of Women Voter's trumpeted Ewing's case to the media as an example of disenfranchisement under Indiana's voter ID law, and New York University's Brennan Center for Justice cited Ewing's case in a "friend of the court" brief filed with the Supreme Court in opposition to the law. KPC News has more on the story here.

Kentucky - 01.08.08
Charles Hart of Salt Lick has been sentenced to 33 months in jail for his role in a vote-buying operation during the May 2006 primary. Federal Judge Joseph Hood found Hart guilty of obstruction of justice, vote buying and making false statements to federal agents. More

Washington - 01.03.08
The former mayor of Roy (WA) Kim Eldridge pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of providing false information on a declaration of candidacy. Although Eldridge faced a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment, she received no jail time and was ordered to pay $800 in fines and court costs. More

Missouri - 12.21.07
Eight people have been indicted for submitting fake voter registrations in St. Louis City and County. The eight worked as voter registration recruiters for the Association of Community Reform Organizations Now (ACORN) during the 2006 election cycle. More

Tennessee - 12.20.07
A Davidson County grand jury has indicted a former poll official on charges she voted illegally, Election Commission officials said. Vancey Voorhies, who worked at the Stratford High School voting precinct, faces two felony counts -- illegal voting and making a false entry on an official election document -- and one misdemeanor count of official misconduct, said Lionel Barrett, senior adviser to the administrator of elections.

Dick Morris has the scoop on Hillary (ugh...the mention of her makes me cringe...)

by Dick Morris, former political consultant for both Clintons

(See Bill's 'commercial' at: www.hillaryclinton.com)

Check out Bill Clinton's syrupy five minute ad for Hillary. He introduces the commercial by saying that he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background. His version of her biography is about as reliable as if it appeared in Pravda!

So, since I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone, I wanted to make a few corrections;

Bill says: Hillary never wanted to run for public office, but she did want to work at public service.

The facts are: When Clinton was considering not running for another term as Governor of Arkansas in 1990, Hillary said she would run if he didn't. She and Bill even had me take two surveys to assess her chances of winning. The conclusion was that she couldn't win because people would just see her as a seat warmer for when Bill came back licking his wounds after losing for president. So she didn't run. Bill did and won. But there is no question she had her eye on public office, as opposed to service, long ago.

Bill says: In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.

The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids.

The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers.

The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm after Bill became Attorney General and made partner only after he was elected governor.

Bill says: President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman.

The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says: She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The facts are: Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-Mart Board of Directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance.

The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco
settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: Hillary was the face of America all over the world.

The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues.
The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto Rico. A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 9-11 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton.
She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country (that's you and me!) when it comes to the war on terror.

1. She wants to close GITMO & move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to our legal system.

2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone calls to/from the USA.

3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.

4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qaeda cells & supporters in the USA.

5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

I can't think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror. But, I can think of a lot of comments she has made that weakens our country & makes it a more dangerous situation for all of us……..She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned.

She is a disaster for all Americans.

Words to live by...

Just received this from a friend of mine. Oh so profound...

Lessons to live by

  1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
  2. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
  3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
  4. When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
  5. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.
  6. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
  7. Believe in love at first sight.
  8. Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
  9. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
  10. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
  11. Don't judge people by their relatives.
  12. Talk slowly but think quickly.
  13. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?
  14. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  15. Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.
  16. When you lose, don't lose the lesson!
  17. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.
  18. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  19. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  20. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
  21. Spend some time alone.

This just in from NFRW President Davidson

January 10, 2008

  • There are dramatic differences between the Republican and the Democrat candidates for President.
  • The Democrats talk a lot about 'change', but to them change means higher taxes, more government involvement in health care, and a weaker national defense.
  • The Republicans, on the other hand, continue to lay out their visions for a future of strength and prosperity.
  • The Democrats believe we can do no right abroad, so they want us to withdraw from the War on Terror and defund our troops.
  • They believe we can't make decisions about how to spend our own hard-earned money, so they'd prefer that the government takes more of it from us and chooses what to do with it.
  • They believe we all need to be forced into a health care system overseen by bureaucrats in Washington.
  • Republicans, on the other hand, offer a positive vision of a future with lower taxes, a strong national defense, and more choice and affordability in health care.
  • The American people will support the party that stands by hardworking taxpayers and our troops.
